Rosemary Water for Hair Growth
Rosemary water has been used as a hair rinse since long ago to help with a variety of hair issues including darkening gray hair, strengthening hair roots and thickening thin hair.
It is made by steeping fresh or dried rosemary leaves (where to get it) in boiling water for 15-30 minutes then filtered, to remove the leaves, into another container. This filtered water is what is referred to as ‘rosemary water.’ For details go here: How to Make Rosemary Water for Hair Growth
Rosemary water helps foster the growth of healthy luscious hair because it stimulates all hair follicles, including dormant ones, to function properly and produce strong long hair strands.
But that’s not all! Besides hair growth, rosemary water also offers other hair benefits! It has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that keep dandruff away. It helps soothe an inflamed and irritated scalp. Rosemary water also helps reduce greasy scalp and hair.
By keeping the scalp and hair healthy and well-functioning, rosemary water promotes healthy hair growth!
How to Use Rosemary Water for Hair Growth
There are two ways to use rosemary water for hair growth.
1 – Using it as a hair growth spray
Here, pour your rosemary water into a spray bottle. It can be a fine mist spray bottle (where to get it) or squirt bottle (where to get it). You can spray this all over your scalp and hair one hour before a shower. Make sure to tie your hair up and cover it with a shower cap. When the time is up, wash your hair as usual. Store the rosemary hair spray in the fridge. Use it up within 1-2 weeks.
2 – Using it as a hair rinse
In this method, pour freshly prepared and cooled rosemary water into a pyrex cup (where to get it) or other container and take it to the shower with you.
When you have finished shampooing your hair and it’s clean and wet, pour the rosemary water slowly over your scalp and hair as the final hair rinse.
Don’t rinse your hair after this. Just wring the excess rosemary water out of your hair and wrap it in a non-fluffy towel. Fluffy towels can may cause hair loss.
“How Often Should You Use Rosemary Water on your Hair?”
You can use rosemary water on your hair 2-3 times per week.
How often you use rosemary water on your hair depends on factors such as how sensitive your scalp is, your daily routine, how often you wash your hair and more.
If you have a sensitive scalp, I recommend using rosemary water no more than once a week.
If you have short hair and want your hair to grow quickly, you can try using rosemary water daily for at least a month and see if it’s a good routine for you. Come share your experience in the comments below!
Where to Get Dried Rosemary Leaves
Fresh rosemary leaves can be used but they may be unavailable or hard to find. For this reason, I use dried rosemary leaves. It’s more convenient and works just as effective as the fresh leaves!
