Use this spirulina face mask for acne to get rid of those annoying angry pimples!
This awesome superfood face mask uses three ingredients which include:
- Spirulina – A blue-green fresh water algae, spirulina is packed with nutrients including zinc, that has been shown to fight acne when used topically or externally on skin! Spirulina also soothes inflammation and helps smoothen rough skin with its slight exfoliating texture.
- Greek Yogurt – Greek yogurt is chockfull of nutrients including live probiotics and lactic acid that has excellent exfoliating properties. Applying Greek yogurt helps eat away dead skin cells, leaving your skin looking and feeling fresh and renewed. It also feels soothing and cooling for your skin if your acne is inflamed, red and painful.
- Tea Tree Essential Oil – Possibly the best essential oil for acne, tea tree oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. It helps kill acne-causing bacteria, which is awesome if you want to prevent more acne. Tea tree oil also has a pore cleansing property that helps get rid of gunk within your skin pores.
How to Make a Spirulina Face Mask for Acne
What you Need
- 1 teaspoon spirulina powder (where to get it)
- 1 tablespoon Greek yogurt
- 3 drops tea tree essential oil (where to get it)
- Small bowl
- Spoon
- Face mask brush for application (where to get it)
Procedure
- Place 1 tablespoon of Greek yogurt in a bowl.
- Next add 1 teaspoon of spirulina powder. If using capsules, twist open 3 capsules and add the contents to the bowl.
- Finally add 3 drops of tea tree essential oil.
- Mix all ingredients in the bowl till well combined.
- Your spirulina face mask is ready for application!
How to Apply this Spirulina Face Mask for Acne
- Begin by steaming your face to soften your skin and allow any grime to come out of your pores.
- After facial steaming, cleanse your face and pat dry.
- Next, onto a clean face, apply the spirulina face mask using clean finger pads or a face mask brush, avoiding your eye area.
- Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes.
- When the time is up, use warm water to gently remove the mask.
- Wash your face thoroughly.
- Pat dry with a soft towel then moisturize!

You can apply this face mask:
- Before a shower
- After facial steaming
- To prep your skin before applying makeup
How Many Times to Apply
You can use this face mask 1-3 times a week.
Notes
- Make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients used. Do a patch test by applying a small dot of the face mask on your inner elbow. Leave it on for about 10 minutes. If there are any signs of irritation and redness, your skin is probably sensitive to the ingredients so don’t use the face mask.
- If you can’t find Greek yogurt, any thick unsweetened unflavored plain yogurt will do.
