Did you know spritzing a green tea hair growth spray on your scalp makes your hair grow twice as long?! I use it as a leave-in treatment!
Hair growth sprays are popular for a reason – they are incredibly easy to use and give great results! One of my fav hair spray recipes is a DIY green tea hair growth spray.
Green tea is known to be an almost zero calorie drink for weight watchers. In Japan, since ancient times, people drink several cups of green tea and it has been linked to longevity.
What makes it good for hair care? Here are some of its benefits:
7 Benefits of Green Tea for Hair Growth & More
- Reduces hair loss
Green tea is enriched with catechins, compounds that reduce dihydrotestosterone (DHT), an androgen hormone, which is one of the major reasons people lose hair.
- Prevents premature graying of hair
The powerful antioxidants and polyphenols in green tea fight against oxidative stress that leads to premature graying of hair.
- Reduces oily hair
A green tea rinse helps regulate excess sebum on the scalp, which keeps the scalp clean and healthy to produce strong long and healthy hair strands.
- Makes hair shiny
Pouring green tea over your hair length makes it shine with a beautiful glossy look.
- Strengthens the hair shaft
Regularly spraying green tea on your scalp and hair helps make the hair roots and shaft strong and breakable resistant, which helps it grow longer without split ends and easy damage.
- Hydrates the scalp
Hair rinses are made up of 99% water, meaning they have hydrating properties. Spraying green tea on your scalp and hair adds moisture to it. After which, you can seal that moisture with a hair oil, cream or leave-in conditioner.
- Reduces dandruff
Because it’s good for both dry and oily scalps, green tea is a good dandruff buster. Dandruff is caused by the fungus Malasezzia but some people get dandruff on their dry flaky scalp while others get it on a greasy scalp. In this DIY green tea hair spray, we will also be adding rosemary essential oil which is a powerful anti-fungal agent.
