Ingredients in this DIY Exfoliating Lip Scrub
Fine White Sugar
Sugar is a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates skin and breaks down bonds of dead cells which encourages cell turnover and reveals fresh pink lips underneath.
Its small particles make it an excellent exfoliant to remove dead skin on lips without being too harsh.
Choose fine white sugar, also known as granulated sugar. Brown sugar can also be used!
Honey
Honey is hydrating, nourishing, soothing and lubricating to chapped lips. As a natural humectant, honey also draws moisture from the surrounding and locks it into your lips.
Coconut Oil
Because its loaded with saturated fatty acids, coconut oil is good for dissolving dead cells on the skin. It easily melts on lips when applied and seeps deep inside, leaving the outer layer well moisturized.
Peppermint Essential Oil
Peppermint essential oil smells yummy, has antibacterial properties and has cooling and soothing menthol which provides pain relief for chapped lips.
Because of menthol, peppermint also invigorates the lips and makes them look plump, full and lush!
