Late nights and early mornings can leave your skin looking a little tired. There’s a little hack for waking your skin up! That’s it – using coffee face masks!
Below, I am sharing three coffee face masks to rejuvenate your skin by reducing the signs of skin fatigue.
DIY Coffee Face Masks
1. DIY Coffee Face Mask for Smooth Skin
Ground coffee provides a gentle exfoliating action with its mild abrasive texture. This helps slough off grime and dead cells from deep within skin cells. It helps reduce rough bumpy skin by scrubbing off dryness and flakiness, revealing smooth skin underneath.
Milk not only moisturizes your skin because of its fatty acids but it also helps remove dead cells as well, due to its high content of lactic acid. Lactic acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that is known for its exfoliant nature in the skin care world.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of ground coffee (where to get it)
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
Directions
- Mix the above ingredients in a small bowl to make a spreadable paste.
- Using clean fingertips, apply this paste on your clean face, avoiding the eyes.
- Let it sit for 5 minutes, then rinse off with warm water first, then cold water.
- While rinsing, massage gently to provide some exfoliating action to remove dead cells and reveal soft supple skin.
- Pat dry with a towel then apply your usual moisturizer.
2. DIY Coffee Face Mask for Glowing Skin
Ground coffee contains caffeine that is a natural diuretic. It helps reduce puffiness from the face and also shrink under-eye bags.
Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps dissolve dead cells on the skin’s surface. It also deeply hydrates skin by locking moisture into skin cells, making them soft and plump.
Turmeric has been used since ancient times to brighten skin and give it a golden glow. It helps reduce blemishes and lighten any skin discolouration including hyperpigmentation. This golden yellow spice also has antibacterial properties that kill acne-causing germs.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon ground coffee (where to get it)
- 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
- ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric (where to get it)
Directions
- Mix all the ingredients and apply the paste on your clean face.
- Keep the coffee face mask on for about 10 minutes or until it completely dries.
- Now using warm water, gently scrub the face mask off.
- Once it is all removed, splash your face with cold water.
- Dry your face with a soft towel and moisturize as usual.
3. DIY Coffee Face Mask for Clear Skin
Honey is the star ingredient of this DIY coffee face mask for clear skin. It has strong antibacterial properties that kill off acne causing bacteria. It is also effective for reducing blemishes and dark spots, promoting bright clear skin for days!
Combine it with ground coffee – a good exfoliant, and yogurt – a moisturising medium, and you will see your skin getting clearer, smoother and looking refreshed!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon ground coffee (where to get it)
- 1 tablespoon liquid honey (where to get it)
- 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
Directions
- In a small bowl, whip up the ingredients with a spoon to form an even mixture.
- Using clean finger tips, apply the coffee face mask on your cleansed face.
- Let it remain on your face for about 10 minutes or until it dries up.
- Use warm water to gently remove the face mask off, massaging gently to remove dirt and dead cells from your skin.
How Often to Use these Coffee Face Masks
You can choose any of these face masks and use them 2-3 times to see results! They can be used in the morning before school/work to wake up tired-looking skin.
Using these coffee face masks is also a good option when you want to exfoliate your face to prep it before applying makeup.
