Did you know you can make your own apple cider vinegar toner? Find out how in this post!
Apple cider vinegar is a wonderous natural alternative to store-bought facial toners & astringents. It’s something you should try adding to your skincare regime!
Organic raw apple cider vinegar is made from fermenting organic apples. It retains many beneficial compounds since it is unpasteurized. Apple cider vinegar goes through two fermentation processes where it produces live enzymes and probiotics that make it the nutritious powerhouse that it is.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin
Both drinking apple cider vinegar water and applying it diluted on your skin have great benefits for your skin. Discover them below:
1. Fights Acne
According to studies such as this one and this one acids in apple cider vinegar such as acetic acid, lactic acid, citric acid and succini acids can kill P.acnes, the bacteria that causes acne.
2. Exfoliates Skin
Malic acid in apple cider vinegar works as an exfoliant, helping to rid the skin of dead skin cells, dark spots, scars and gunk deep within skin pores.
3. Gets Rid of Skin Bumps
My personal experience with apple cider vinegar is that it helps get rid of weird skin bumps. I had a whitehead on the thin skin under my eye that literally stayed for months without going away. It disappeared with just one application of apple cider vinegar.
This is because of apple cider vinegar’s detox and exfoliant properties. Some people use it for warts, skin tags and more.
4. Tightens Pores
If you have big pores, apple cider vinegar can help shrink or tighten them which minimizes their appearance.
5. Keeps Skin Firm
Using an apple cider vinegar facial toner helps firm your skin, making it toned and taut.
6. Cleanses Skin
Apple cider vinegar has cleansing properties because of its exfoliating acids such as lactic acid which makes it great for removing gunk and dirt stuck in the skin pores.
7. Normalizes Skin pH
Apple cider vinegar helps balance and normalize skin pH. Skin has a slightly acidic pH. If this pH is disrupted, it can lead to issues like acne, bumps and dry skin.
8. Balances Oily Skin
For those with oily skin, using an apple cider vinegar facial toner helps reduce the excess oiliness.
9. Antioxidant Protection
The antioxidants in apple cider vinegar help protect the skin from free radicals that cause skin damage and premature aging.
10. Facilitates Cell Renewal
The calcium content in apple cider vinegar helps in cell renewal, lipid barrier function and antioxidant protection from DNA damage.
