How to Make Rosemary Oil for Hair Growth
Below are two steps showing how to make rosemary oil for hair growth. The end product is rosemary-infused oil! Yes, this is an infusion. There are two ways of doing this: using fresh rosemary sprigs or using dried rosemary. It’s up to you to choose which one you want!
Of course, it’s easier to find dried rosemary than fresh rosemary so most people go with that J
Preparation
What you need
- 5 fresh rosemary sprigs or 2 tbsp dried rosemary (where to get it)
- 1 cup of coconut oil (where to get it) or extra virgin olive oil (where to get it)
- Heat safe saucepan (where to get it)
- Stove
- Sieve or tea strainer (where to get it)
- Small funnel (where to get it)
- Storage container (you can use an 8 oz amber bottle)
Directions
- Get your rosemary sprigs which should be clean and dry and cut them up using a pair of scissors. If using dried rosemary, there is probably no need to do this because they may already be in smaller pieces.
- Place one cup of coconut oil in a heat safe saucepan.
- Turn on the stove to a medium low flame and add the rosemary.
- Stir the contents of the saucepan for about 2-3 minutes until all the coconut oil melts.
- Continue cooking the rosemary in the coconut oil over a low flame until you see the fresh rosemary losing its green color. If using dried rosemary, you will see the color of the oil changing too. This may take another 2-3 minutes.
- Turn off the flame and let the oil cool down completely.
- Finally, strain it into a jar or amber bottle using a tea strainer, coffee filter or clean cloth. An amber bottle protects your rosemary oil from light which can make it oxidize or go bad quick.
- Your rosemary oil for hair growth is ready!
How to Use Rosemary Oil for Hair Growth
Ideally, you would use this rosemary oil for hair growth as a HAIR MASK.
That means apply it onto dry scalp and hair.
Then tie up your hair and cover it with a damp towel or shower cap.

I have silver hair and heard it will turn it darker, so a little afraid to use. Would like to know if it is true
JulyBlossom says
Hey love, because rosemary is used to help hide gray hairs, it may darken hair if used consistently over a long period of time. You can try it once a week for 3 months to see if it has an impact on your silver hair. If you don’t want to experiment, you can definitely use other powerful hair growth remedies such as rice water, flaxseed gel & aloe vera. I have recipes on the blog. Just use the search box and you’ll find them! Take care beautiful <3
