It is also called the ‘vitamin for hair growth.’
Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin that boosts the health and growth of skin, hair and nails. It does this by helping to break down fats and carbohydrates.
It is best for increasing the speed at which your hair grows.
Taking biotin also improves hair texture and strength.

Omega 3 is mighty important for hair growth.
Many people take it, especially in form of fish oil pills, for a variety of heath conditions.
This study shows that a 6-month supplementation with omega 3 & 6 and other antioxidants acts efficiently against hair loss in improving hair density.
Omega 3 works by fighting inflammation that causes hair loss through dermatitis, alopecia, scalp eczema, scalp psoriasis and other conditions.

4. Iron
Many people who are experiencing hair thinning are likely missing iron.
Iron deficiency is common around the world, especially for women who menstruate and have recently gone through pregnancy and childbirth.
It is also one of the common causes of hair loss.
Taking iron supplements nourishes the blood that supplies nutrients to the hair follicles, which ensures hair growth.
5. Vitamin A
One of the best vitamins/supplements for hair growth is Vitamin A.
Vitamin A is needed for growth of healthy cells and tissues. It is also needed for your hair to keep growing.
Taking Vitamin A supplements boosts hair thickness and growth.
It also contributes to the healthy functioning of oil glands on the skin and scalp which secrete sebum.
Sebum is necessary for keeping your scalp moisturized which in turn ensures growth of strong long and shiny hair.
Look for a high quality Vitamin A supplement. Only take Vitamin A supplements if you are deficient. Consult your doctor before you do so.

6. Vitamin D
Vitamin D is involved in the production of new follicles.
This is why it’s very important for re-growing lost hair.
When the body undergoes stress, for example, if you do extensive dry fasting, or when you undergo childbirth or traumatic situations, your hair follicles also go into ‘shock.’
This shock prevents your hair from growing as usual so it enters a dormant phase.
Within a few months, those dormant hair follicles start shedding the hair strands attached to them like crazy.
This is known as telogen effluvium.
To get this hair to grow back, you really need to eat right.
Vitamin D deficiency is one of the biggest causes of this hair not growing back.

7. Vitamin C
What makes Vitamin C special for hair growth is its ability to create a protein known as collagen.
Collagen is like the glue that keeps our entire body together. It forms a part of the hair structure.
Collagen also helps maintain hair thickness and growth.
Taking Vitamin C supplements keeps hair glossy and even prevents early graying of hair strands.
Remember, Vitamin C is needed for proper absorption of iron so taking them together can help loads.

8. Zinc
Zinc is a vital nutrient for our skin, hair and nails.
Studies like this one show that taking zinc supplements can help with hair loss.
It helps maintain the proper functioning of the oil glands near our hair follicles.
This promotes hair growth and shine.
People who are zinc deficient or can’t metabolize the mineral easily have a high risk of experiencing hair loss.
You can get effective zinc supplements here.
9. Magnesium
Last but not least on this list of supplements for hair growth is magnesium.
Magnesium may not be well-known as a supplement for hair growth but it’s a good one!
One of the major things it does is to beat stress. Stress is the major cause of hair loss. Being chronically stressed can really make one go bald, no jokes!
Magnesium also helps in the absorption of many nutrients including calcium. In excess, calcium can actually climb all the way up to the scalp and block the hair follicles which leads to inflammation and hair loss.
It also helps in synthesizing protein, which is important because hair is made up of a lot of protein.
So, if you want your hair to keep growing, be strong and prevent premature graying, you might want to look into magnesium supplements.
