If you’re a DIY hair care beauty, then you must know how to make flaxseed gel for hair growth! I’ll be sharing the exact recipe that I use and also, you’ll find a DIY flaxseed gel hair mask that works wonders!
What is Flaxseed Gel?
First things first, you need to know what flaxseed gel is.
Flaxseed gel is made by cooking or processing flaxseeds to release their natural oils/fatty acids.
The heat helps bring out a thick gelatinous substance, known as flaxseed gel. It is not sticky but gel-like.
Benefits of Flaxseed Gel for Hair Growth & More
Flaxseed gel is widely used in the DIY hair care world as a natural hair gel, detangler, styler and hair mask.
Here are some of the benefits of flaxseed gel for hair growth & more:
🤎 Boosts hair growth – Flaxseeds not only give you longer thicker hair when eaten but also when applied to your scalp! It contains a boatload of nutrients including antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and healthy fats. All of this helps maintain a healthy scalp environment, hence facilitating the production of healthier, stronger and longer hair strands.
🤎 Reduces frizz – Using flaxseed gel as a hair styler helps clump curls and coils easily, more than other styling products, which helps keep hair sleek and non-frizzy. It can be used as a hair gel to remove baby hairs out of the way.
🤎 Easy detangling – Have a hard time getting the tangles out? Apply flaxseed gel onto freshly washed and conditioned hair and then your hair will become smooth and easier to work with! Detangling becomes so much easier.
🤎 Seals moisture into the hair – For dry hair, spray your hair with a natural hair spray or even just water to make it damp then coat it with flaxseed gel. This helps seal moisture into the hair strands and shaft, helps hair look more hydrated and healthier.
🤎 Soothes your scalp – Since flaxseed gel is rich in fatty acids and moisture, it helps give an irritated and itchy scalp a cooling and soothing sensation that helps calm it down.
🤎 Repairs damaged hair – Flaxseed is rich in Vitamin E and omega 3 fatty acids. These nutrients deeply nourish & moisturize dry and damaged hair, returning it back to its original luster. Vitamin E also fends of oxidative damage which makes hair strands dry and lifeless.
🤎 Increases elasticity – By making your hair easier to work, flaxseed gel helps promote elasticity and strength which prevents easy hair breakage and damage.
🤎 Adds shine – Those with dull locks can help add a beautiful shine and sheen to their hair strands by using flaxseed gel in their usual hair care routine. This is due to its Vitamin E and fatty acid content.
