- 22.5g shea butter (where to get it)
- 10g sweet almond oil (where to get it)
Cool Down Phase
- 4.5g vitamin E oil (where to get it)
- 0.75g liquid Germall plus preservative (where to get it)
- 20 drops lavender essential oil (where to get it)
Tools and Equipment
- Wide flat bottomed saucepan (where to get it)
- 2 heat-resistant glass measuring cups (where to get it)
- Aluminium foil (where to get it)
- Immersion blender (where to get it)
- Airtight amber glass jar for storage (where to get it)

Directions
- The first step is to make your own double boiler system. Do this by adding about one inch of water to a wide flat bottomed sauce pan. Place the pan on the stove over low heat.
- Next carefully measure and add the water phase ingredients into a small heat-resistant glass measuring cup. Cover the container with aluminium foil to avoid evaporation of the water.
- Measure and add the oil phase ingredients into a second heat-resistant glass measuring cup.
- Now place both measuring cups on the wide flat bottomed sauce pan. The ingredients will be heating at the same time and same temperature. Let the oil phase ingredients melt gently.
- After about 20–30 minutes, the oil phase ingredients should be completely melted and the water phase ingredients should be warm/hot.
- Carefully remove the wide flat bottomed pan from the heat. Uncover the aluminium foil and gently pour the melted oil phase ingredients into the water phase ingredients.
- Next, mix the water and oil mixture with a glass rod vigorously for 15 seconds to combine them.
- Then, remove the glass measuring cup with the combined ingredients from the wide flat bottomed pan.
- The next step is to immediately grab your immersion blender and begin blending the lotion.
- Blend for about a minute then leave it to cool for ten minutes.
- After 10 minutes, blend for another minute or two, and repeat this blend-cool-blend cycle until the glass measuring cup is barely warm to the touch and the lotion is thick and creamy.
- When the lotion has cooled down, it’s time to incorporate cool-down phase ingredients.
- Add the liquid Germall plus preservative, vitamin e oil and lavender essential oil into your lotion.
- Mix everything well with a glass rod to combine and voila! Your DIY aloe vera body lotion is ready!
- Store it in an airtight container in a cool, dry and dark place.
