DIY Anti-Aging Hemp Seed Oil Face Moisturizer
Ingredients
- ½ cup of unrefined shea butter (where to get it)
- ¼ cup of cold-pressed hemp seed oil (where to get it)
- ½ teaspoon of Vitamin E oil (where to get it)
- 20 drops of frankincense essential oil (where to get it)
- 10 drops of geranium essential oil (where to get it)
- Double boiler (where to get it)
- Hand mixer (where to get it)
- Glass jar for storage (where to get it)
Directions
- The first step is to ensure all your tools are sanitized properly. This is to kill germs so your DIY anti-aging hemp seed oil moisturizer doesn’t grow bacteria or mold. Wash everything: your blender, double boiler bowl & container, hand mixer, storage jar etc with hot soapy water. Dry them with a clean cloth then swab with rubbing alcohol and let ithem fully dry.
- The second step is to create a double boiler by adding a few inches of water in a large saucepan. Heat the pan on a low flame.
- On top of the saucepan, place a glass bowl in a way that the bowl doesn’t touch the water but simply rests on the saucepan.
- Add the shea butter and hemp seed oil in the glass bowl. Stir occasionally until the shea butter is melted and combined with the hemp oil.
- Let this mixture cool until it is room temperature. It should have a creamy semi-solid opaque texture. You can place the glass bowl in the fridge for about 30 minutes to speed the process.
- Once it is creamy and semi-solid cream, add Vitamin E and all the essential oils.
- Whip the mixture using a hand mixer for a few minutes until you get a nicely combined light green cream.
- Transfer the cream into a glass jar. Store in a cool dry place.
- To use, apply a suitable amount on your clean face and neck daily. It can be used in place of your usual face cream. Use a jade roller to massage the cream deeper into your skin.
Notes
- Make sure to do a patch test to make sure your skin doesn’t have an adverse reaction to the cream. The inner wrist or inner elbow is a good place to do the patch test. Simply apply a pea-sized amount of the moisturizer in that area and monitor it for about 30 minutes. If you see no kind of irritation, then the coast’s clear!
- This DIY anti-aging hemp seed oil face moisturizer lasts about 5 months, provided you keep it away from water and other contaminants like dirt etc. Use clean fingertips to scoop up the cream. Store it in the fridge to extend its shelf life.
