Ingredients in this Calendula Hand Salve
🧡 Calendula Oil
Calendula is the all-star ingredient in this recipe. It is very healing and nourishing for skin.
It is a great moisturizer for dry peeling and chapped skin, such as around the cuticles. It helps hydrate and soften rough palms. Calendula also keeps hand skin looking youthful by promoting skin cell regeneration, healing wounds and promoting hydration.
🧡 Avocado Oil
A thick and nutrient-rich oil, avocado oil is excellent as a skin emollient. It contains fatty acids, Vitamin E, potassium, lecithin and other nutrients that ceeply nourish and moisturize skin.
🧡 Shea Butter
Shea butter is another ingredient needed in this DIY calendula hand salve. Its main components include oleic acid, stearic acid, linoleic acid and more. These fatty acids quickly absorb into the skin as shea butter melts with body temperature.
It also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties that can be beneficial for many skin conditions including eczema, psoriasis, dry skin and more.
Shea butter is also filled with Vitamins A and E, which protect the skin from premature aging and dryness. Vitamin E also soothes dry painful skin and improves the skin’s elasticity which makes skin appear youthful instead of old and wrinkly.
🧡 Beeswax
Beeswax is a perfect moisturizing agent for dry hands. It seals moisture into skin cells with its emollient properties. This helps soften dry and chapped skin.
🧡 Lavender Essential Oil
In the world of essential oils, lavender is known to be a very soothing oil. It can help treat dry painful hands. It also replenishes lost moisture in the skin which makes it hydrating.
Lavender essential oil also has powerful antioxidant properties which stave off free radicals that cause premature aging.
🧡 Helichrysum Essential Oil
Helichrysum essential oil is an extremely healing oil. It is well known for its wound healing and scar removal properties. It helps fasten the rate at which wounds and scars heal by promoting skin cell regeneration.
It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties. This protects your hands from skin irritating microbes.
Helichrysum essential oil is also good for hydrating dry rough and leathery skin on hands. Another bonus is that it helps relieve itchy skin.
