DIY Anti-Wrinkle Rosehip Oil Face Cream
This DIY anti-wrinkle contains some ingredients that make it like store-bought face cream in its consistency, application and shelf-like. These include:
Allantoin, which has been used to treat or prevent dry, rough, scaly, itchy skin and minor skin irritations.
Cetearyl Alcohol, which is a mixture of fatty alcohols comprising of predominantly cetyl and stearyl alcohols found in plants, like coconut and palm oils. It is a cosmetic ingredient known for its role as a stabilizer to thicken an emulsion and keep it from separating. Cetearyl alcohol also contains emollient properties which leaves skin soft and smooth.
Silk peptides which gives a silky, smooth feel to cosmetic formulations. The silk protein helps balance moisture in skin as well as supports skin elasticity.
Okay, now on to the ingredients needed:
What you need
- 71g distilled water (where to get it)
- 1g allantoin (where to get it)
- 2g vegetable glycerin (where to get it)
- 2g silk peptides (where to get it)
- 10g rosehip oil (where to get it)
- 5g shea butter (where to get it)
- 2g cetearyl alcohol (where to get it)
- 5g Emulsifying Wax NF (where to get it)
- 2g vitamin E oil (where to get it)
- 5 drops frankincense essential oil (where to get it)
- 5 drops rose essential oil (where to get it)
- 0.5g liquid germall plus (where to get it)
- 2 heat-resistant Pyrex measuring cups (where to get it)
- Wide flat bottomed pan (where to get it)
- Immersion blender (where to get it)
- Airtight glass container for storage (where to get it)
Directions
- In a wide flat bottomed pan, add 1-inch level of water and bring it to a simmer over medium-low heat.
- Next, place the water ingredients: distilled water, allantoin powder, glycerine and silk peptides into a shamll heat-resistant glass measuring cup in the pan with 1-inch water, to melt everything through.
- In another heat-resistant glass measuring cup, add the oil ingredients: rosehip oil, shea butter, Cetearyl alcohol and emulsifying wax NF and place it in the pan with 1-inch water as well.
- Heat both water & oil ingredients for 20-30 minutes until the oils have thoroughly melted.
- Once melted, carefully pour the water ingredients into the oil ingredients.
- Turn off the heat and remove both measuring cups from the pan and set them on a dishtowel to insulate it from the countertop.
- Using an immersion blender, blend the mixture together. After a couple of minutes of blending, leave it to cool for 10 minutes before returning to blend it some more.
- Keep blending until the cream is only a bit warmer than room temperature, then mix Vitamin E, liquid germall plus and essential oils.
- When everything is combined properly, scrape the cream into a sterilized air-tight container.
- Store in a cool, dry and dark place.
- Your DIY anti-wrinkle rosehip oil face cream is ready for use!
How To Apply
Scoop a suitable amount of the cream using clean fingertips and gently apply to your clean face and neck using gentle upward motions. Use twice a day.
Notes
- Do a patch test to make sure you don’t have an adverse reaction to the oils. The inner wrist/elbow is a good place to do the test since the skin is delicate, similar to facial skin.
- Pregnant women and nursing mothers should avoid essential oils so be sure to find out which oils are safe before using.
- Keep essential oils away from children and pets.
