Benefits of Frankincense for Anti-Aging
Frankincense is known as the King of oils. It is also one of the most powerful essential oils for skin care.
What makes it special is its array of therapeutic properties. It contains antiseptic, cicatrisant (wound and scar healing), cytophylactic (promotes new cell growth) and astringent (oil control and skin tightening) properties.
It promotes cell regeneration, helps eliminate sun spots, softens fine lines & wrinkles, tightens skin and replaces old or dying cells with new healthy ones.
DIY Frankincense Anti-Aging Cream
What you need
- ¼ cup of shea butter (where to get it)
- 3 tablespoons of argan oil (where to get it)
- 2 tablespoons of rosehip oil (where to get it)
- 1-2 tablespoons of cocoa butter (where to get it)
- ¼ teaspoon of Vitamin E oil (where to get it)
- 15 drops frankincense essential oil (where to get it)
- 7 drops geranium essential oil (where to get it)
- Hand mixer (where to get it)
- Airtight 4 oz container for storage (where to get it)
Procedure
- Begin by sanitizing all your tools and utensils. This is to prevent bacteria and mold from growing in your DIY frankincense anti-aging cream. To disinfect, wash your utensils, bowl, hamd mixer and storage container with hot soapy water, wipe it dry then swab with rubbing alcohol and let it air dry.
- Once that’s done, start by melting the shea butter and cocoa butter using a double boiler system. Once the butters have fully melted, turn off the heat and add argan oil and rosehip oil in the melted butter and mix.
- Let this mixture cool down until it is at room temperature. Don’t let it get solid – it should look thick and opaque but still soft.
- Now using a hand mixer, whip the mixture on high until it becomes fluff. This will take about 5 to 10 minutes.
- Once creamy, add all the essential oils and vitamin E and whip again till everything is fully incorporated.
- Finally, transfer the cream into an airtight jar. Store in a clean, dry and dark place. It should last about 4 month. Make sure not to get water or any other contaminants into it.
